RECORD OF INDIANA VOLUNTEERS IN THE SPANISH AMERICAN WAR

1898-1899

28TH BATTERY



     (62) The 28th Battery of Light Artillery, Indiana Volunteers, was Battery E, 1st Artillery Indiana National Guard. The Battery arrived at Camp Mount April 26, under orders from the Governor, for the purpose of being mustered into the service of the United States. After the requisite physical examinations of officer and men the Battery was mustered into the volunteer service on May 12. Left Camp Mount May 15 and arrived at Camp Thomas, Chickamauga Park, Georgia, on May 17, under orders for muster out the Battery left Camp Thomas September 3, arrived at Camp Mount September 4 and was furloughed for thirty days on September 14. The Battery was finally mustered out and discharged October 31, 1898.
