65) Under the President's second call for troops, Indiana's quota included two companies of colored infantry, which were enrolled at Camp Mount, and after examination, were mustered into the volunteer service of the United States on July 15, and remained in camp until September 1, when they were ordered to Fort Thomas, Kentucky. Left Fort Thomas on October 7, when they proceeded by rail to Camp Thomas, Chickamauga Park, Georgia. The companies remained at Camp Thomas engaged in drill until they were finally mustered out and discharged, January 20, 1899.
