COMPANY D

 

     Company D is composed of a husky looking set of men and is known as the company from "bonny Dundee." It was the first to arrive in camp and is officered by men who have served in the regular cavalry,

CAPT. JOHN B. HAYNES

     Captain John B. Haynes of Dundee is a physician and the first medical man to go out as captain in a Michigan regiment. He is very considerate to his command by whom he is well liked and for whom he is a most fitting officer. He served five years in the First U. S. Cavalry. Subsequently he was six years in Company C, First Infantry, Michigan National Guard.

FIRST LIEUT. SYLVESTER S. ZELUFF

     First Lieutenant Sylvester S. Zeluff is also a Dundee man. He is a very scholarly, accomplished officer. Served three years in the Eighth U. S. Cavalry and enlisted in the First Ohio Volunteer Cavalry and discharged by order of the secretary of war to accept this lieutenancy.

SECOND LIEUT. CHARLES A. JORDAN

     Second Lieutenant Charles A. Jordan is from Dundee, a popular officer and devoted to his profession. He served five years in the Eighth U. S. Cavalry and also in the First Ohio Volunteer Cavalry, from which he was discharged to accept commission in the 35th.
