Attended public schools at Seward, and was graduated from University of Nebraska with the following degrees: AB., 1935; M.A., 1937; and LL.B., 1937. Was assistant in History Department, University of Nebraska, 1938. Married Miss Ruth Jennings, of Davenport, Nebraska, June 12, 1939; four children. Was engaged in general practice of law at Grand Island, 1938-1941; attorney for Insurance Department, State of Nebraska, 1941-1942; United States Navy, 1942-1946; Assistant Director of Insurance, State of Nebraska, 1946-1948; Executive Vice President and General Manager, Universal Surety Company, 1948-1951; Past Executive Vice President and Secretary of Empire Life Insurance Company, Empire Fire and Marine Insurance Company, Empire Indemnity Company, 1951-1964; President of First Fidelity Life Insurance Company 1965-; President Lincoln Building Corporation 1964- Alternate delegate Republican Convention, 1952. Elected delegate National Republican Conventions 1956 and 1960. Is a member of First Plymouth Congregational Church at Lincoln. Member of American Legion, Post Commander, Lincoln, 1955; Department Commander, 1960; B.P.O.E., Nebraska Bar Association, numerous insurance societies, Sigma Chi, Phi Alpha Delta fraternities. Elected to State Board of Education in 1954 for two-year term. Re-elected in 1956 and 1962 for six-year term. Vice president of State Board of Education, 1957-1958; president of State Board of Education, 1959-1960.

     Born in Gering, Nebraska, July 5, 1918. Attended public schools in Torrington, Wyoming; University of Wyoming; and Nebraska State Teachers College at Kearney from which he received BA. degree. Has taken graduate work at University of Nebraska. Married Vera Eklund, May 25, 1941; two sons: Steven and James. Served three years in Air Force as radar navigator, World War II. Discharged from Air Force as Captain. Former school superintendent and building contractor. Served as State Senator 1955-1961; administrative assistant for Governor Frank Morrison 1961-1964. Since March 1964, Regional Director, Small Business Administration for State of Nebraska. Member of Lutheran Church. Appointed December 23, 1964, to State Board of Education, Second District, to fill vacancy created by the death of Frank Heinisch,

Married Gertrude Wells, June 28, 1929; one daughter: Grace (Mrs. Gerald A. Gould). Is the Executive Vice President of the Association of Nebraska Taxpayers, Inc. Former educator who has served as rural school teacher, high school teacher, principal, superintendent of schools, president of Norfolk Junior College for 30 years-now President Emeritus, visiting professor of University of Nebraska, Omaha University and Colorado College of Education. Past chairman, South Central Jurisdiction Board, Methodist Church; past vice president. Nebraska Association of Colleges and Universities; past president of the following: Norfolk Y.M.C.A.; District 3, N.S.E.A.; and Nebraska Association of Junior Colleges; Norfolk City Library Board (and member for 26 years); Kiwanis International (also served as its Lt. Governor). Past state president, N.S.E.A. Past member of: Civil War Centennial Commission; Mid-Century Conference Children and Youth; Washington Conference Teaching of Science and Mathematics; State Examining Committee, Nebraska Colleges and Universities 5 years; and State Committee on School Reorganization, 7 years. Is a member of: State Central Committee, Republican Party; N.S.E.A.; Norfolk Centennial Commission; Norfolk Chamber of Commerce; Board of Directors, Nebraska Chamber of Commerce; Kiwanis Club; Board of Directors, Y.M.C.A.; Nebraska Schoolmasters Club; Wesley Foundation, Wayne State College; Nebraska Conference, Mental Health; chairman, Madison County T.B. Married Miss Johnson, June 1921; three children: Thomas, Jean Ann and William. Is a farmer. Former dairyman. Served on local school board for six years. Member of Farmers Union, Nebraska Tuberculosis Association. Nebraska Historical Society. American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Veterans of World War I, Rainbow Division; and P.T.A. Elected to the State Board of Education on November 8, 1966.

Former Special Agent for Federal Bureau of Investigation, and former Lieutenant, U.S.M.C.R. Is an attorney. Was delegate to Republican National Conventions in 1952, 1956, 1960 and 1964. Former president, Scottsbluff Kiwanis Club; and former member, Scottsbluff City Library Board. Member and secretary, Board of Education, School District of Scottsbluff; and Scottsbluff Junior College District. Member, Board of Trustees, Hiram Scott College. Banner County Attorney and member of Masonic Lodge. Elected to State Board of Education on November 3, 1964.
