County Attorney, and District Court Judge from Eighth
Judicial District. Is a member of Masonic Lodge and Shrine.
Appointed Supreme Court Justice by Governor Tiemann on

1937. Member Phi Delta Phi fraternity. Married Helen Lanier,
July 15, 1938; three children: Robert B., William L., and
Mary Lynn. Is a lawyer. Admitted to Oregon bar in 1937, with
Carey, Hart, Spencer and McCulloch, Portland, 1937-1942.
Admitted to Nebraska bar, 1942. In 1942 became a member of
the law firm of McCown & Baumfalk, Beatrice, Nebraska.
Served as Lt. Sg. USNR 1943-1945; director, Dempster Mill
Manufacturing Co.; F. D. Kees Manufacturing Co. Mia
Enterprises; trustee, Hastings College; Fellow American
College Trial Lawyers; American College Probate Counsel;
member, American and Nebraska Bar Associations; American Law
Institute; American Judicature Society; elder and trustee,
Presbyterian Church; member. Elks, Masons and Rotary Clubs.
Author of articles in legal journals. Appointed Supreme
Court Judge from the Fourth District for term beginning

Married Elizabeth Meyer, August 10, 1943; three children:
Marguerite Ann, Sarah Elizabeth, and Paul Robert. Former
Assistant Attorney General of Nebraska and a member of the
staff of 1943 Statute Revision Commission. A member of the
Nebraska State, American, Adams County, and Tenth District
Bar Associations; Masonic Bodies; Scottish Rite; Shrine;
Elks; American Legion; and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Elected
Judge of the Supreme Court November 8, 1960. Re-elected
November 8, 1966. |

Practiced law in Bayard, Nebraska, 1919-1927; district judge
of Seventeenth District, 1927-1934. Was president,
Cornhusker Council Boy Scouts of America, 1944. 1945, and
1946; judge, Zonal courts, Nurnberg, Germany, Tribunal V,
from June 1, 1947 to February 25, 1948; vice chairman,
National Boys' State Committee, 1953 to date; President
Cornhusker Boys' State 1939 to date. Is a member of the
Congregational Church, Past Grand Master of Masons, Scottish
Rite, Commandery, Thirty-third degree. Shrine, Knights of
Pythias, Lions Club, Hiram Club, American Interprofessional
Institute, American Legion. Native Sons-Daughters, and
American and Nebraska Bar Associations. Elected Supreme
Court Justice in 1934, 1940. 1946, 1952, and 1958. Reelected
November 3, 1964. |
