Member of Pi Beta Phi (social) and Delta Omi- cron (music) sororities; Vestals and Mortar Board. On October 3, 1936, married Mr. Morris Nelson Hughes, a Foreign Service Officer of the United States State Department; three children: Mrs. Mary Solari, Mrs. Judy Leech and Morris N. Hughes, Jr, Teacher of French in Humboldt High School. Served as city chairman, Sabin Polio Vaccine Days, 1962; city chairman, Heart Fund Drive. 1963; committee member, Drive for Hospital Funds, 1963; and reporter, Great Plains Assembly, 1964, at University of Nebraska Center for Continuing Education. Is chairman. Policy Board, Statewide Planning for Vocational Rehabilitation Services; trustee, University of Nebraska Foundation; president, Board of Directors of Community Memorial Hospital, Inc., Humboldt; commissioner, Local Housing Authority, Humboldt; and advisor of Y-Teens. Missouri, from which he received B.S. degree in business administration. Married Clara Lee Keller December 23, 1945; four children: Rick K., Linda, Ralph and Virginia. Is a merchant and owner of Rick Budd Western Auto. Past president. Nebraska City Rotary Club and Chamber of Commerce; past chairman, and 5-year member of Industrial Development Committee; past director of Nebraska Retail Merchants Association; and past member of school board. Is president and director of Mid-States Grain and Terminal Company and BKW Realty Company, Inc. Founder of Life Investors of Nebraska. Member: Nebraska Resources Foundation, American Legion. Eagles. Elks, Shrine and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Member of the Unicameral Legislature regular session of 1965 and the special session of 1966. Re-elected November 8, 1966, for a four-year term.

     Born in Smith County, Kansas, November 24, 1917. Attended Glendale Junior College, Glendale, California; and Walla Walla College, Washington. Married Eleanor Petrasek, November 1948. Is a real estate broker and building contractor. Former manager of Nebraska New Car Dealers Association and Omaha Zone Chevrolet Dealers Association. Is s member of American Legion. Member of the Unicameral Legislature regular session in 1963 and 1965, and the special session in 1963 and 1966. (Re-elected November 3, 1964, for a four-year term).

Has served as director of Big Brothers of Omaha, oratorical chairman of Optimist Club, chairman of Douglas County Republican Party, and chairman of YMCA central membership campaign, 1963-1964. Taught a course in politics and government in night school of University of Omaha. In 1963 was nominated as one of the Outstanding Young Men of Omaha. Instructor in Civil Law at University of Omaha, 1955-1966. Member of: Danish Brotherhood in America, Masonic Lodge 290, American Legion, Nebraska and Omaha Bar Associations, YMCA Membership Committee, and Boys' Work Committee of Omaha Optimist Club. Captain of U.S. Army Reserve in Judge Advocate branch. Deacon in Dundee Presbyterian Church and vice president of Men's Council. Is an officer in the United States Army Reserve Corps. Is a member of the Board of Directors of the following organizations: St. Vincent De Paul Stores, St. John's Seminary Association, Q Street Merchants, National Conference Christians and Jews, and Citizens for Decent Literature. Member of Social Settlement House Committee UCCS, Archbishop James Hugh Ryan, Knights of Columbus 1019, Eagles Aerie No. 154, South Omaha Merchants and Professionalmen's Association, Public Works Committee, and Better Omaha Club. Is an Eagle Scout, and chairman, Boy Scouts of America South District; committee member, Douglas County Hospital Expansion; editor, Knights of Columbus newspaper.
