COMMERCIAL CLUB

The Madison Commercial Club has been in existence for several years but it is only within the past five or six years that it has been able to make much progress or accomplish much for the town and contiguous territory. The Club now has on its rolls practically every business and professional man of the town while many farmers are also becoming members. The efforts of the Club have been confined principally to road work and during the past few years there has been a decided improvement in the roads leading into the town. The Club has also taken an active part in other matters and chief among their victories is a handsome new railroad station which has just been erected by the Union Pacific railroad at a cost of about $10,000.

Among the improvements for the town being advocated by the Club are a sewer system and a municipal cemetery association. At a recent meeting a committee was also appointed to investigate the feasibility of building an interurban railroad into the rich agricultural country lying west of the city.

The Club is in good condition in all respects and much interest is being manifested in its affairs and future prospects at this time are deemed very encouraging. The officers of the Club are:

President, Geo. R. Wycoff
Secretary-Treasurer, A. M. Koechig
